Job Summary: The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) is a frontline role involving phlebotomy and direct patient interaction in a clinical setting. This position is critical in providing quality blood specimen collection, maintaining patient trust, and ensuring compliance with laboratory standards. The PSR II works independently with minimal supervision and plays a vital role in supporting patient health routines and diagnostic procedures.
Key Responsibilities: Perform venipuncture and capillary collections on pediatric and geriatric patients. Accurately label specimens and complete post-draw verification with patient involvement. Maintain documentation and records for all collections and procedures. Work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as required. Travel to multiple locations as needed with reliable transportation. Provide exceptional patient care, demonstrating leadership and professionalism. Comply with all health, safety, and infection control procedures. Required Experience: Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience including pediatric and geriatric collections High school diploma or equivalent required Keyboard/data entry experience Reliable transportation (must not rely on public transit or rideshare) Nice-to-Have Experience: 2+ years in a Patient Service Center environment Experience in customer service within retail or healthcare Medical assistant or paramedic training Phlebotomy certification (Required in CA, NV, WA; preferred elsewhere) Required Skills: Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing Patient Verification and Communication Recordkeeping & Accuracy in Documentation Preferred Skills: Flexibility across sites and shifts Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills Strong judgment and independence in routine clinical operations Additional Skills: Ability to follow standard procedures and SOPs Superior customer focus and commitment to excellence Capacity to prioritize tasks in high-volume settings Adherence to dress code and safety guidelines
