Licensed Practical Nurse (School Setting)

Sunshine Homecare Services is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide one-on-one nursing care to medically fragile children with complex health care needs in a school setting. This position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, supporting students' health and well-being during the school day. The LPN will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure high-quality, safe, and effective care.

Position Details

• Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM Schedule: School-based setting (1:1 pediatric care)
• Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time/Per-Diem
• Rate: $40.00 - $42.00

Essential Job Duties

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric client during school hours under RN supervision
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed within LPN scope of practice
• Monitor and document the student's health status throughout the day
• Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions as necessary
• Assist with medical devices such as feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and catheters
• Collaborate with school staff, family, and healthcare providers
• Ensure compliance with the care plan developed by the RN Case Manager and physician
• Document care daily and communicate updates with Sunshine Homecare Services and supervising RN
• Use appropriate infection control procedures and safety measures.
• Comply with all company policies, practices, and procedures.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN program
• Current NY State LPN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience preferred
• Experience in school or community health nursing is a plus

Certifications/Licenses

• Valid Practical Nursing Degree/Diploma
• Active New York State LPN License
• Current CPR Certification

• Strong pediatric care skills within LPN scope of practice
• Excellent communication with children, families, and staff
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly
• Organized and detail-oriented documentation skills
• Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to remain on school premises for scheduled hours
• Ability to assist with student mobility and transfers
• Potential exposure to body fluids and infectious diseases
