Cashier Position Under direct supervision, performs a variety of cashiering and record-keeping tasks in a high-volume financial operation. Performs general clerical tasks, which requires working knowledge of Court functions, policies and practices. Employees in this title are expected to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Provides receipts and makes appropriate change. Maintains accurate records of payment collection by balancing daily activity, posting and verifying payments. Responds to inquiries from financial institutions, officials, coworkers and external contacts, with appropriate follow-up. Researches payment discrepancies and/or exceptions and takes appropriate action. Reviews payments and processes adjustments. Posts information to manual or computerized financial systems. Maintains and reports statistical data. Operates a cash register, computer, copy machine and other office equipment. Categorizes and records payments. Greets and interacts with the public to transact Court business. Maintains records in databases, spreadsheets and logs. Identify common problems, escalate to management, and recommend possible solutions and/or improvements. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications, licenses and certifications include: High school graduation or its equivalent. One (1) year of cashiering, accounting or banking experience preferred. One (1) year of successful clerical experience. Experience using MS Office Suite and relevant software and systems. If an employee drives on behalf of the Court, the employee must possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver's license, no fault insurance and access to a vehicle to use in the performance of assigned duties. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce positive results. Ability to communicate to ask and answer questions and to explain Court procedures to internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively so that others can understand. Ability to deal calmly and effectively in high stress situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, employees, officials and external contacts. Ability to meet and interact with the public and deal courteously and effectively with their questions or problems, seeking assistance when needed. Ability to operate office equipment. Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to request clarification when needed. Skill in managing one's own time, as well as the ability to meet deadlines. Working knowledge of Court processes and procedures. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work with a diverse population. Additional requirements include: Successful completion of criminal and IV-D background check, fingerprinting and rechecks. xywuqvp Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. May be assigned to alternate work locations and/or training sites and will be responsible for transportation to those locations. Physical requirements include: Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
