Territory: East and West Kentucky (Hybrid Field + Remote)
About the Role
We are hiring multiple Drug & Supplement Retail Inspectors to support a statewide public health initiative focused on compliance, safety, and consumer protection. Inspectors will perform approximately two inspections per day within assigned territories, ensuring retail establishments selling hemp-derived cannabinoids, kratom, and dietary supplements comply with state and federal regulations.
This position offers the opportunity to work independently, travel within your assigned region, and make a direct impact on public safety while receiving comprehensive training from both the State of Kentucky and the FDA.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct inspections of retail and food service establishments for compliance with state and federal regulatory standards.
Review product labels and Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for accuracy and compliance.
Identify, document, and follow up on product misbranding, adulteration, or other non-compliance issues.
Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain thorough documentation.
Support FDA-contracted inspections and investigations into consumer complaints or public health incidents.
Educate and communicate compliance requirements to business owners in a professional manner.
Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to resolve compliance issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester hours in a science-related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, environmental health, public health).
Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
Strong communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage field-based responsibilities.
Must be able to obtain Environmental Health Specialist/Sanitarian registration within 12 months of hire.
(Preferred) Experience in food safety, regulatory compliance, or quality assurance.
Schedule and Environment
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (37.5 hours/week).
Hybrid work model: field inspections combined with remote administrative work.
Travel required within assigned East/West Kentucky territory.
Equipment provided by the client.
