Position Summary
The Construction Project Manager – Electrical Specialty is responsible for the comprehensive leadership and execution of electrical scopes within complex construction projects, including pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. This role oversees all phases of project administration-subcontracting, procurement, scheduling, cost control, documentation, and client relations-with a focus on electrical systems integration and compliance with GMP and FDA standards. The Project Manager serves as the primary liaison between the client, design team, subcontractors, and internal teams, ensuring successful delivery of high-quality, on-budget, and on-schedule projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Strategy
Lead the electrical scope of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
Collaborate with superintendents and engineers to develop and execute project plans
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, design teams, and subcontractors
Budget & Cost Management
Review project estimates and establish cost coding structures in JDE
Manage budgets, profitability, and cost controls including change orders and forecasting
Approve subcontractor/vendor invoices and prepare monthly owner billings
Scheduling & Coordination
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules in collaboration with the Superintendent
Monitor critical path activities and intervene to prevent delays
Ensure electrical milestones are integrated into subcontractor agreements
Contract & Procurement Oversight
Review subcontractor/vendor bids and conduct scope interviews
Prepare and execute detailed scopes of work and purchase orders
Conduct preconstruction meetings to align expectations and procedures
Electrical Systems Integration
Oversee installation and commissioning of electrical systems in API manufacturing environments
Coordinate with engineering teams to integrate specialized equipment
Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and industry standards
Documentation & Communication
Establish and manage document control systems for RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings
Maintain thorough records of correspondence, meeting minutes, and reports
Lead Owner/Architect meetings and ensure timely documentation
Change & Design Management
Review and manage design changes and ensure proper documentation
Collaborate with design teams to resolve conflicts and maintain project integrity
Safety & Quality Assurance
Support site safety programs and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
Implement rolling punch lists and quality benchmarks to achieve zero-punch closeouts
Client Relations & Business Development
Build strong relationships with clients to foster repeat business
Participate in proposal development and promote BE&K's capabilities
Understand client expectations and deliver high levels of satisfaction
Team Leadership & Development
Mentor and train Assistant Project Managers and other staff
Conduct performance evaluations and support career development
Promote a collaborative and inclusive team culture
Qualifications
BS/BA in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
Minimum 5 years of construction experience, including 2+ years as Assistant Project Manager
Proven success managing electrical scopes on projects up to $20M
Experience with pharmaceutical facilities and API production environments preferred
Strong understanding of Superintendent responsibilities and Senior PM functions
Proficiency in JDE cost reporting and forecasting tools
