Job Description

Schedule/ Hours: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day. This will include working Saturdays.

This position is responsible for: Under the direction of the Family Store Manager, drives Salvation Army-owned vehicle loading and unloading routine pickups and/or deliveries of material, donated or otherwise, to serve production needs of the store and/or general operation of the corps. Lifts and carries items to the designated destination for further processing, storage, or disposal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Duty 1: Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick up donations.
• Duty 2: Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.
• Duty 3: Ensures the truck meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operator's maintenance in accordance with established standards.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Duties require frequent periods of physical mobility, including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and lifting. Physical duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting.
• An extensive amount of physical effort is required, associated with lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects (more than 50lbs.) frequently.
• Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors, where there are physical discomforts associated with weather changes.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: High school diploma or G.E.D, And Prior experience driving a box truck, And Any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Certifications: Valid State Driver's License
