Job#: 2086035 Job Description: Job Title: Vivarium Technician (Part-Time Contractor) Location: Cambridge, MA (Onsite) Position Summary We are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented Vivarium Technician (Part-Time Contractor) to support routine animal husbandry and vivarium operations in a rodent facility. This role involves daily care of laboratory animals, environmental monitoring, and cage maintenance, all in compliance with institutional and regulatory animal welfare standards. Key Responsibilities Perform daily husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, and routine cage changing for rodents Monitor animals for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report observations to supervisory staff Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal rooms and facility workspaces Record environmental conditions (, temperature, humidity) and health observations accurately Ensure proper cage labeling and assist with animal identification tracking Communicate effectively with vivarium staff to support seamless operations Adhere to all SOPs, institutional guidelines, and IACUC protocols Provide weekend and/or holiday support on a rotating schedule, as needed Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent required; coursework in animal science, biology, or related fields preferred Experience with laboratory rodents and routine cage changing preferred Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs and maintain accurate records Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently ALAT certification (AALAS) preferred or willingness to obtain if extended Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods EEO Employer Apex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
