JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our Umbrella and Excess Casualty Underwriters are high level individual contributors handling lead umbrella and excess accounts, both monoline and over CNA risk management primary accounts. You will be recognized as the technical expert, as you drive business results through strong sales, marketing and relationship building skills with external and internal business partners. You will be responsible for overall management, business development, growth and profitability of a $10M book business.

This is a hybrid role will ideally work from our Plano, TX office 2-3 days per week; however, we are open to candidates in Houston and Austin as well. For this fast paced, high-energy role, we will be targeting candidates with 5-6+ years of experience and will consider candidates at the Consulting Director level which is tenures at 10 + years.

1. Advanced knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
2. Demonstrated high level of technical expertise and product specific knowledge.
3. Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
4. Ability to work independently.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to exercise independent judgment and to make critical business decisions effectively.
7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
8. Demonstrated leadership skills.

Education & Experience

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferred.
2. Typically, 8 years underwriting experience.

As determined by CNA and depending on the applicant's experience and/or qualifications, candidates may be hired into one of two Underwriter positions: Underwriting Consultant or Underwriting Consulting Director. Typically, 5+ years of related experience.
