Job Summary 

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Key focus areas include:

• Managing and caring for a group of patients
• Creating and updating care plans based on patient condition
• Monitoring patient progress and documenting outcomes
• Educating patients and families about care and discharge
• Supervising and delegating tasks to other staff
• Supporting teamwork, quality improvement, and compliance
• Following evidence-based practices and the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care

Overall: Clinical care + patient education + teamwork + leadership

Key Responsibilities Breakdown

1. Assessment

• Perform initial & ongoing patient assessments
• Make independent clinical decisions

2. Care Planning (Development & Implementation)

• Create and adjust care plans
• Coordinate with doctors, families & teams

3. Evaluation

• Track patient response to treatment
• Document outcomes

4. Education

• Teach patients & families about care & discharge

5. Leadership

• Delegate tasks
• Mentor/precept staff
• Support quality & safety initiatives

Shift & Weekly Hours Breakdown

• Shift Timing: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (Night Shift)
• Shift Duration: 12.5 hours

Weekly Hours

• 3 shifts/week → ~37.5 hours/week (standard)
• No 48-hour schedules allowed

Other Requirements

• Every other weekend required

Must-Have Requirements

• Certifications: BLS, NIH
• Experience: 2+ years acute inpatient RN
• System: Epic experience required
• License: Kentucky RN license (at submission)
