Exceptional opportunity for experienced Neonatal ICU registered nurses ready to provide expert care in a dynamic Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. This travel nursing assignment is based in Gastonia, NC, offering the chance to work in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment with a 53-bed Level 3/4 NICU plus overflow, averaging a patient census of 58.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonates with critical conditions such as Respiratory Distress Syndrome, congenital heart defects, seizures, necrotizing enterocolitis, and more.
Manage complex interventions including vasoactive drip titrations, invasive lines (ART/CVP), ventilator and tracheostomy support, feeding and chest tube management.
Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including intensivists, respiratory therapists, residents, and APPs.
Provide bedside procedures shared with providers and contribute to discharge planning.
Adhere strictly to unit protocols such as Bare Below Elbow practice and pediatric-friendly dress code.
Participate in a rotation schedule that includes working select Fridays, Mondays, weekends, and holidays with no on-call requirements.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
Valid RN licensure with current BLS and NRP certifications.
Minimum 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience in a high acuity setting.
Familiarity with EPIC EMR, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Phillips monitors, PIV Ultrasound, and Tecotherm.
Experience or willingness to learn CRRT, ECMO baby-side care, and management of ICP monitoring devices preferred.
Ability to float within neonatal PCU and pediatric units including PICU and CVICU as needed.
Manager approval required for first-time travelers on this unit.
Scheduling & Shift Details:
Shift options: 0645-1915 (day) and 1845-0715 (night).
Six-week scheduling cycle with required weekend and holiday coverage.
