We are seeking a Telephone Medical Appointment Clerk at Lincoln Center in San Antonio, TX. The position operates Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., with a 9-hour shift that includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch, not to exceed 40 hours per week.
Position Summary
The Telephone Medical Appointment Clerk/Consult Agent supports a high-volume healthcare call center. This role is responsible for scheduling appointments, managing patient communications, and ensuring accurate and timely handling of medical consults in a professional and customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Answer inbound calls and assist patients with scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling appointments
Make outbound calls to coordinate specialty referrals and primary care appointments
Verify patient eligibility and update demographic information in appropriate systems
Utilize electronic health record systems (e.g., MHS GENESIS) to manage appointments and consults
Process and track medical consults in accordance with established guidelines
Manage appointment cancellation requests and voicemail inquiries
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
Deliver excellent customer service while adhering to medical and administrative protocols
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (or higher)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong data entry and computer skills
Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
Knowledge of medical terminology
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask and coordinate across multiple departments
Strong customer service skills and professional phone etiquette
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
US citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a healthcare or call center environment
Familiarity with military health systems or electronic health records
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
