Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Typically Monday-Friday with the expectation that any scheduling gaps on the weekends be covered. 1st shift. Operations are open from 6:30am-10pm so checking in on second shift every once in a while would be great as well.
Pay Range
$26.10 - $39.15
Major Responsibilities:
Selection, orientation, development, and evaluation of Food and Nutrition staff who are capable of successfully performing services which comply with standards set by the department, hospital, Accrediting Organization and other regulatory agencies. Interview employment candidates and select most appropriate for open positions. Ensure all new associates attend the hospital orientation and the department orientation.
Provide individual development opportunities through in-service education, sponsorship, and other training programs.
Conduct Performance Reviews in a timely manner, establish a development plan for each direct report and work with him or her to attain established goals.
Communicate policies to staff and ensure corrective action is taken promptly when needed.
The position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation of both Cafes and catering events. Prepares operational reports regarding supply utilization, sanitation checklist, safety audit, cash handling and log books. Prepares cash deposits and delivers to hospiatl cashier daily.
Maintains constant communication between production areas and other functions of the Food and Nutrition Department, updating their staff to changes that are happening on a moment-to-moment basis.
Observes employees appearance and dress with reference to uniform policy.
Ensures cross training of personnel for maximum efficiency.
Programs cash register, takes readings, prepares reports on daily sales activities.
Assists in hourly position needs when unforeseen situations arise, along with other assigned duties.
Ensures safe food handling, quality, and temperature for food, keeping presentation in mind.
Coordinates sanitation functions, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient operation.
Ensures that budget expenditures for their respective areas of responsibility are within established budget limits (labor and supplies). Plans and schedules work for staff, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate personnel keeping in mind budget constraints.
Supervises both the Cafés and catered functions ensuring proper portion control and quality food presentation.
Checks all Food Service equipment to ensure it is in working order, notifies Maintenance Section for repairs. Maintain repair log to ensure completion of repair order.
Participates in quality assurance program, tests new equipment for possible use in the department.
Supportive of the hospital's philosophy and mission. Ensure effective and efficient short and long range planning, for the Café and Catering, in cooperation with other areas of the hospital and other areas of Food and Nutrition Services.
Interact with employees, patients and visitors in a helpful, compassionate and results-oriented manner.
Recognize work-related problems, analyze the problem, and offer suggestions to improve work functions, products and services.
Ideal Candidate will have the following: Management experience in the food service industry (restaurants, catering, hospitality, hotels) Healthcare preferred.
Batch Cooking and High-Volume Production experience
Previous experience working in a high-volume unit.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt.
Experience presenting to leadership teams.
Track record of developing teammates and positioning them for success.
Excellent Communication skills.
Technical skills and ability to learn new software quickly.
Interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
Education/Experience Required: Bachelor of Science Degree or 5 years experience in related field Some leadership ability

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Exposed to some extreme temperature changes, heat-dish room, cold-cooler and freezers Large amounts of bending, as related to essential job activities Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language to process reports, as related to essential job activities
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case by case basis.
