Summary : The Tennis & Games Center Retail Supervisor & Buyer is responsible for delivering exceptional member service while overseeing all retail operations at the Tennis & Games Center. This role combines buying and merchandising expertise with hands-on leadership, ensuring a dynamic, well-curated retail experience. The Buyer manages product selection, vendor relations, inventory control, and shop presentation while supporting the daily operations of the Tennis, Pickleball, Croquet, and Games programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Retail Buying & Merchandising · Oversee selection and purchasing of all retail items for the Tennis & Games Center. · Manage financial performance of the shop, achieving or exceeding sales goals and managing cost of goods. · Stay current on industry trends, particularly tennis and pickleball apparel and equipment. · Maintain attractive, well-presented retail displays, refreshed on a regular basis. · Coordinate timely ordering and maintain appropriate inventory levels. · Represent the Tennis & Games Center at retail-focused meetings. · Provide regular sales and retail performance updates through reporting. · Create orders through the Purchase Order System and submit for approval to Director, and Retail Purchasing. · Liaise with Retail Warehouse to ensure product received is correct and delivered in a timely manner. · Manage embroidery/decoration process. · Manage all vendor relationships including set up and payment. · Coordinate trunk shows and special retail events with vendors. · Train Associates on new products and features Leadership & Team Oversight · Lead and schedule the Pro Shop Front Desk Team to ensure coverage and service standards. · Provide retail-focused leadership and training on product knowledge and customer service. · Support team development and onboard/train new employees. · Maintain frequent communication with staff to ensure awareness of merchandise and sales initiatives. Member Service & Operations · Deliver exceptional member and guest service in a professional, courteous, and knowledgeable manner. · Assist with court and lesson reservations, organized events, and daily shop operations. · Support Card & Games Room operations, including tidiness and snack replenishment. · Collaborate with other Club departments (Housekeeping, Engineering, Communications, etc.) to maintain facilities. · Conduct daily walkthroughs to ensure facilities are clean, organized, and member-ready. · Answer phones and respond to member needs in a professional manner. Sales & Shop Maintenance · Assist customers with purchases, upselling and cross-selling as appropriate. · Accurately process transactions and manage POS operations. · Check in, organize, and display new merchandise promptly. · Restock, straighten, and maintain store appearance throughout the day. · Monitor stock levels and report low inventory as needed. · Ensure the shop remains clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times. Supportive Functions: · Assist with quarterly and annual inventory counts. · Submit invoices and purchase orders accurately. · Support operational tasks such as supply ordering. · Refer customers to other shops when needed.
Specific knowledge, skills and abilities: · Strong selling and upselling skills. · Sports specific retail experience preferred. · Excellent communication and customer service skills. · Flexible, collaborative team player who can build rapport with members. · Proficient in POS (Agilysys), reservations system (ForeTees), and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). · Strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and attention to detail. · Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Education and/or Experience: A minimum of a two-year college degree is required. Previous experience in retail required, with experience as a buyer preferred.
Language: Must be able to comprehend the English language in order to communicate with Members, Guests, Associates and fully understand job assignments.

Attendance, Appearance and Conduct: Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Ocean Reef Club from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, associate may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the Club and report deadlines.
Proper grooming is required by all associates and is described in detail in the Associates Handbook. Associates should review this policy and make sure that at all times they present themselves for shifts looking clean, neat and professional.
As a condition of employment, all associates agree to fully comply with Ocean Reef Club rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of Club facilities. Associates who violate Club rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
