The Opportunity
Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. Our extensive portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, bare metal stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices and peripheral stents.
Join our dynamic team in Temecula, California as a Senior Specialist, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). In this pivotal role, you will apply established EHS principles, practices, regulations, and internal standards while engaging with stakeholders and customers. You will take a solutions-oriented approach to planning, directing, and completing a wide range of EHS assignments that support a safe and compliant workplace.
What You'll Work On
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations and internal standards.
- Stay current on evolving regulatory requirements and proactively address risks.
- Represent EHS during audits and inspections; maintain accurate documentation.
Project Management
- Independently lead and manage multiple EHS projects from scope to execution.
- Conduct feasibility studies, develop schedules, and deliver results on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals and implement contingency plans when needed.
Technical Leadership
- Apply advanced EHS knowledge to programs and systems.
- Benchmark best practices and lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Problem Solving & Innovation
- Identify and resolve complex EHS challenges through root cause analysis and strategic planning.
- Deliver cost-effective, value-added solutions that align with business goals.
- Anticipate future trends and develop proactive strategies.
Organizational Influence
- Mentor and guide team members and external partners.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and deliver impactful training programs and presentations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain EHS procedures and standards.
- Support capital project planning and documentation.
- Represent EHS on committees and project teams.
- Respond to urgent EHS issues with sound judgment and technical expertise.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- 5+ years of EHS and/or operational experience in a regulated environment.
- Strong project management, communication, and analytical skills.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree
- Professional EHS certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM).
- Experience in the medical device or manufacturing industry.
The base pay for this position is $75,300.00 $150,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
