Team Overview: Our Stores Data Science team focuses on developing advanced mathematical techniques to address key challenges in retail operations. This includes enhancing task prioritization and optimizing workflows, ultimately responding to dynamic guest demands through machine learning, operations research, and simulation. Your Role: As a Senior Data Scientist, you will partner with Product, Tech, and business teams to tackle retail challenges at scale. Your key responsibilities will include: Building a comprehensive understanding of our Stores' business and operational processes. Analyzing large datasets to gain insights and drive business improvements. Creating, deploying, and maintaining data science models and tools that impact operations significantly. Developing optimization solutions and predictive models that are implemented in production systems. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance software systems and tools. Expanding our simulation framework to address the complexities of our evolving store operations. Designing and running simulations to assess inventory purchasing strategies and their impact. Conducting analysis and troubleshooting to resolve issues with models and software. About You: MS/PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of relevant professional experience in mathematical concepts, optimization, data analysis, and simulations. Strong analytical mindset with data visualization expertise to solve business challenges innovatively. Experience with large datasets and familiarity with supply chain data preferred. Proficient in Python, SQL, and big data frameworks like Hadoop/Hive and Spark. Familiarity with JVM-based languages, such as Java or Kotlin, is a plus. Sound knowledge of machine learning, probability estimation, and optimization techniques. Experience deploying effective ML solutions with significant business impact. Self-motivated and achievement-oriented, capable of managing tight deadlines. Excellent collaborative skills, able to work across teams and time zones. Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal. This position follows a Hybrid/Flex work arrangement, which requires onsite and virtual work depending on business needs.
