Job Summary

The Stockroom Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, and stock organization. This role provides leadership and direction to stockroom associates, ensuring efficient workflow, accurate inventory management, and compliance with safety and company standards. The Stockroom Supervisor works closely with store leadership to support sales floor replenishment, merchandising execution, and maintain stockroom operations.

Requirements:

Essential Job Functions

  • Shipping & Receiving: Oversee and manage incoming and outgoing shipments, including inspecting deliveries, preparing documentation, and coordinating with carriers.
  • Inventory Management: Conduct daily and weekly audits, monitor shrinkage, and prepare for cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Sales Floor Support: Partner with store and department leaders to ensure timely replenishment of merchandise and execution of visual merchandising plans.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all stockroom operations comply with OSHA standards, company policies, and legal requirements. Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Equipment Oversight: Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of stockroom equipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Operational Efficiency: Organize stock by category, size, and priority to maintain an efficient back-of-house system that supports the sales floor.
  • Hands-On Support: Provide direct assistance during peak periods, promotions, and store events.

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Damage Reporting: Inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies and report them for reimbursements and record-keeping
  • Legal and Safety Compliance: Ensure all shipments adhere to relevant legal and safety regulations
  • Assist with store transfers, returns, and damaged goods documentation.
  • Provide hands-on support during peak times, promotions, and store events.
  • Maintain safety and compliance with OSHA standards in the back-of-house areas.


Qualifications, Education, and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required.

1–2 years of retail experience, preferably in inventory or warehouse operations.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, POS systems, inventory software).

Previous supervisory experience preferred.


Cognitive and Physical Demands

Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifting and moving heavy packages and materials

Standing and Walking: Spending long periods standing and walking around the back of house or retail space

Bending and Reaching: Regularly bending, stretching, and reaching to access items

Operating Equipment: Using warehouse machinery such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, packaging and handling equipment

Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities.


Working Conditions

Primary work location is in the backroom and receiving areas of the retail store.

Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and evenings as business needs require

Occasional work on the sales floor to support operational needs.

Fast-paced retail environment with exposure to temperature changes in loading/unloading areas.
