We are seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician for a retail-focused contract role in Roanoke, VA. This is a fast-moving opportunity ideal for a technician with strong retail pharmacy experience and the ability to thrive in a busy environment.
Position Details:
Type: Temporary/Contract (13 weeks, possible temp-to-hire)
Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Location: Roanoke, VA 24019
Start: ASAP (1.52 weeks after offer/clearance)
Key Responsibilities:
Process prescriptions, handle insurance adjudications, and resolve rejections
Prepare, package, and label medications for pharmacist verification
Perform data entry and manage prescription documentation
Communicate with patients, prescribers, and insurance companies by phone
Maintain inventory through cycle counts, restocking, and monitoring expirations
Assist with returns, quarantines, and medication destruction processes
Support compliance with HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and insurance regulations
Cross-train in various pharmacy functions to support department needs
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Active Virginia Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
PTCB certification (required)
Minimum 2 years of retail pharmacy technician experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Comfortable making patient and provider phone calls
Preferred Skills:
Call center or high-volume communication experience
Strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
