Key responsibilities include managing merchandise and inventory, overseeing pet care operations, opening and closing the store, supervising associates, and maintaining a safe, organized environment. Principal Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: People Leadership: Support and guide associates in product handling, providing training on product knowledge and presentation standards. Facilitate the associate experience and support development through training, onboarding, mentoring, and coaching. Delegate and verify the completion of daily tasks. Lead and direct associates when acting as the lead. Address and manage associate complaints and grievances. Recognize and celebrate associates to enhance overall engagement. Store Operations and Overall Experience: Execute merchandising strategies to optimize sales, including product receiving, placement, and promotional setups. Manage inventory levels, conduct regular audits, and analyze sales trends to make informed stock recommendations. Maintain accurate inventory records and address discrepancies. Operate POS systems and manage cash transactions with accuracy. Enforce store standards and lead a culture of empowerment in compliance with Policies and Procedures. Share responsibility for store opening and closing procedures. Ensure high standards of pet care, including cleaning, feeding, and health monitoring. Facilitate a positive experience for pet parents with online orders. Act quickly to report and manage sick or injured pets. Follow all procedures for receiving new store-owned pet arrivals. Qualifications 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment. Full-time availability with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Proficiency in computer applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining composure. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for optimal store layout. Supervisory Responsibility No direct reports, but responsible for guiding the development of other associates. Provide performance feedback to direct supervisor. Act as the leader in the absence of other leaders, supervising associates and addressing concerns. Physical Demands and Work Environment Required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and use hands to handle and write. Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, and talking required. Must frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds with assistance. Exposure to moving mechanical parts and wet environments with pet hair; moderate to high noise levels may occur. Handling of live animals is a common responsibility.
