ROLE SUMMARY
Influence through Excellence is Valor's motto and the Retail & Merchandising Coordinator is responsible for a key component of fulfilling this motto from a brand perspective. This position is responsible for overseeing all retail operations of the school store and plays a vital role for enhancing school spirit by providing a variety of quality, Valor-branded merchandise to our community of students, parents, and staff. Maintaining a clear focus on financial stewardship and exceptional customer service is critical. Recruiting a team of energetic and passionate parent volunteers to assist will enable Valor's retail operations to flourish.
The person who will be most successful in this role has an innovative spirit, a strong eye for design, gift for communication, knack for organization, love for people and a desire to honor God with a servant's heart. This position will be part of the overall marketing and communications team and reports to the Marketing & Communications Manager.

Primary Responsibilities
- Research and procure Valor merchandise that positively promotes the Valor brand and aligns to Valor's specific branding guidelines
- Maintain the Valor School Store's locations (including the Eagles Nest online store website), hours and customer service
- Provide retail store presence and special event support for key events and activities
- Demonstrate responsibility and stewardship regarding budget and finances
- Provide monthly sales and inventory reporting; track sales to help keep revenue and expense in line with the annual budget and financial goals
- Secure store assets and monitor transactions; oversee all receivables - cash, point of sale (POS) transactions, credit card processing, gift cards and online sales
- Develop space efficient and inviting merchandise displays, keeping displays well stocked and organized
- Conduct periodic review of inventory to identify opportunities for improved selection and promotion of merchandise; determine when markdowns would be appropriate and provide special event promotional discounts, as needed
- Model exceptional customer service and lead volunteers to do the same
- Recruit, train, develop a volunteer team to help carry out store initiatives
Secondary Responsibilities
- Maintain and Protect the Valor Brand within the Valor Community
- Merchandise Buying and Inventory
- Source, develop, oversee POS database, price, and maintain inventory a variety of attractive products for Valor customer base
- Maintain relationships with key vendors, determining the best deals for Valor based on price, quality, speed of delivery, UPCs
- Work with appropriate team members to determine promotions and event representation for the school store to the Valor community

RESULTS
Valor's retail operations will be known as an area of excellence and our community will be provided with a variety of high quality, uniquely designed Valor-branded merchandise that promotes the vision, mission and brand.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor degree in a related field required
- Prior retail experience preferred
- Experience with e-commerce solutions (Shopify) preferred
- Previous Eagles Nest volunteer experience helpful, but not required
- Organizational, administrative and computer-based work experience
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- All Valor staff must be trusted to maintain confidentiality in all matters of school business
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects consisting of different deliverable formats with excellent organization
- Independent worker and self-starter
- Excellent relational skills
- Maintain excellent customer service while prioritizing work and multi-tasking
- Demonstrated computer skills, including email, MS Word, MS Excel, Internet
- Ability to learn new software programs (e.g. Shopify POS and online eCommerce solutions)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The same basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.
POSITION TYPE: B: Traditional school calendar with additional weeks prior to school starting and after school ends. July - June. This position offices in-person, on campus
HOURS PER WEEK: Part-Time, Non-Exempt. This schedule varies seasonally. Scheduled hours are primarily Tuesdays-Fridays, plus 5-6 Friday evening football games from August through October. Additionally, there will be evening work for 4-5 other events throughout the year. Schedules may occasionally exceed 25 hours per week during fall months, not exceeding 50 hours in a two week period.
SUPERVISOR: Marketing & Communications Manager
PAY RANGE: $23-$25/hour
