Departmental Objective: In support of Christopher Newport Universitys mission, the mission of CNU Dining Services is to provide CNU students with the highest quality in food and dining experiences. In addition, Dining Services aspires to provide high levels of excellence and professionalism in rendering superior customer-focused services to students, faculty, staff, guests, and visitors of the University, with close attention to detail and with a caring and concerned approach, targeted at delivering outstanding results in serving customer needs and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
Purpose of the Position: The purpose of this position is to assist the manager and assistant manager in running a highly successful coffee/sandwich caf that provides quality food to its customers in a timely manner while making sure all health standards set by the State of Virginia, and locally the City of Newport News, are met and surpassed. In addition, this position will assist management and supervise with minimal oversight for any and all sport concession events/outside field rentals/miscellaneous non-sporting events in the several different concessions locations across the Christopher Newport campus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position: Ability to understand and abide by health codes
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to make quick and competent decisions without manager approval
Ability to understand inventory management to keep food costs within department guidelines
Ability to reconcile daily deposits with a high level of accuracy
Ability to multitask during the many events that are happening simultaneously
Skilled in the use of spreadsheets and word processing
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required : Education: High school diploma or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Experience: Experience working in the food service industry
Supervisory experience
Additional Consideration(s): Experience: Cash handling experience
Experience using spreadsheet and word processing software
Previous food service experience working in college/university setting
Previous concessions experience
Previous experience working in an upscale coffee and/or sandwich caf
Salary Information: Starting at $31,720, Commensurate with Education and Experience
