Compensation : $29.00 / hour to $32.00 / hour, DOE; medical, dental, vision, & retirement plan
Summary :
Mission Housing Development Corporation’s Resident Services component seeks to foster healthy communities and promote self-sufficiency by improving community relations, facilitating access to resources, and providing opportunities for personal goal achievement for residents of Mission Housing’s communities. Employee may be assigned the responsibility of more than one site.
Essential Functions :
Community Resources
Provide general assistance and advocacy related to supportive and social services to all residents; provide up-to-date information and clarification regarding programs such as Medicare, Medical, entitlements, and formal supportive and social services.
Research, identify, and link residents with resources such as rental assistance, transportation, adult education, health services, employment assistance, SSI, food stamps, prescription drug assistance, senior services, and other pertinent services beneficial to the community/residents.
Establish relationships with, maintain, and follow up with community service providers.
Work closely with Property Management staff and on-site service providers to identify specific supportive needs related to lease violations and household housing stability. Follow up and update supervisors on referral outcomes.
Compile information and eligibility requirements for neighborhood and City-wide resources.
Organize community resource displays with information and applications.
Assist with planning and coordinating fundraising activities supporting assigned sites and Mission Housing’s goals.
Perform other duties aligned with Mission Housing’s mission, including working at community events (e.g., annual activities, Carnaval, Sunday Streets, fundraisers) as needed, during or outside regular hours.
Programs and Activities
Explore and provide on-site educational speakers and workshops fulfilling compliance requirements for Mission Housing Regulatory Agreements, covering topics like health, financial literacy, computer training, job searching, and life skills.
Set up and advertise office hours at each site for resident meetings and referrals.
Recruit and supervise volunteers for programs.
Assist residents in building informal support networks with others, family, and friends.
Create opportunities for resident involvement in community activities.
Coordinate resident training for leadership roles and develop beneficial programming.
Organize onsite community-building events.
Collaborate with other Resident Services staff on programs and activities.
Produce a monthly calendar of events and activities.
Coordinate community-building activities like Food Access Program and Outreach Campaigns.
Administration
Complete and submit timesheets and reports accurately and on time, including service reports, grant reports, budgets, and other required documentation.
Prepare reports on service provision and update service plans per regulatory requirements.
Submit accurate monthly reconciliations to accounting.
Conduct surveys to assess resident needs and evaluate programs.
Create outreach flyers, newsletters, and monthly calendars to inform the community.
Maintain current resident files and document interactions thoroughly.
Attend internal and external meetings as assigned, such as department meetings, training, and community forums.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or two years of experience in community services coordination/social services in lieu of degree.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Experience with low- to moderate-income families, seniors, and individuals with mental health, substance abuse, disabilities, or legal issues.
Team-oriented, enthusiastic, flexible, patient, problem solver, proactive, and committed to making a difference.
Knowledge of federal and state benefits programs and local services in San Francisco.
Proven leadership and community-building skills.
Clear and professional communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Confidentiality and timely completion of duties.
Sensitivity to senior issues and ability to handle stressful situations with de-escalation skills.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Internet.
Preferred Skills :
Bilingual in Spanish or additional languages.
Physical Demands :
Sitting, using hands, reaching, and talking/hearing regularly required.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Willingness to travel between sites.
Ability to handle stress and perform setup/cleanup for events involving physical activity.
Work Environment :
Occasional standing, walking, and driving.
Work environment varies from quiet to noisy, with accommodations available for disabilities.
