The Quality Assurance/Food Safety Manager will develop and manage Quality Assurance programs and activities that will ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices including CGMP, HACCP, and Preventive Controls. The QA Manager will integrate quality assurance and quality control into all functions and people. The goal is to assure the high quality of our operations and services aiming to the long-term success of our business.

  • Develop and maintain compliance with various quality related programs including but not limited to CGMP, environmental monitoring, sanitation, allergen, HACCP, Preventive Controls, microbiological testing, product recall, traceability, and internal audits.
  • Responsible for all quality assurance and quality control programs from receiving raw materials to the shipment of finished goods.
  • Responsible for upholding food safety standards.
  • Ensure successful compliance with international, federal, state or local regulations as they apply to health, food safety, and labeling requirements.
  • Establish manufacturing specifications, standards, protocols and procedures for quality control and new product development, including reviewing all product labels and creating ingredient and nutritional spec sheets for all new and existing private label items.
  • Manage the pest control, sanitation, and microbiological testing programs; interpreting results and providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop and participate in auditing programs by performing process and procedural audits
  • Ensure product specifications and customer requirements are being met and appropriate production records are kept.
  • Ensure that all new regulations are quickly and accurately implemented
  • Assist Plant Management with leading all company food safety and quality management initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain the Domestic and Foreign supplier approval programs.
  • Facilitate and be a resource for on-going communication of food safety/QA issues with the Management team.
  • Develop and perform employee training programs for GMP, HACCP, HARPC, allergen, food defense, and other food safety related programs.
  • Track, analyze, and lead incident report initiatives for all quality and customer complaint issues.

Responsible for implementing corrective actions as needed to increase organizational consistency and ensure issues are rectified in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a quality assurance staffer or relevant role
  • Thorough knowledge of methodologies of quality assurance and standards
  • Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and databases
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Great attention to detail and a results driven approach
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
  • BS/BA in business administration or relevant field
  • Ability to work in temperature-controlled cold food processing rooms (45f or colder) continuously for up to 4 hours
  • Ability to work in freezers (with protective gear)
  • Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000 etc.)
