First Step House is hiring for a full-time Program Manager at the Men's Resource Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The Program Manager acts as a services liaison at the Road Home locations in South Salt Lake, in partnership with The Road Home's case management services team. This manager will work in partnership with the shelter's case management team to help assist individuals that want help with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The program manager will identify appropriate SUD Treatment services, will assist shelter guests needing preliminary stabilization (e.g. referring shelter guests to psychiatric care, detox and/or medical stabilization), and ultimately work to connect shelter guests with the treatment deemed most crucial to their needs, be it psychiatric, substance use disorder, or some other therapy. The program manager will occasionally provide crisis intervention and will advocate for the appropriate type and level of care. The program manager attends regular clinical staffing meetings within First Step House and participates in regular coordination meetings and/or triage with The Road Home's case management services team as they work to support the goals and directives of The Road Home. The program manager will have strong interpersonal skills for building collaborative, friendly relationships with shelter guests, all community partners, funders, and coworkers. The program manager, in acting as a representative of First Step House, will promote stability and demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior in advocating, documenting and reporting on services rendered and persons served. The program manager will mediate ambiguity and demonstrate flexibility and creativity in building relationships with a highly diverse population. The program manager will become familiar with programs within First Step House and with other service providers in the area that can help the shelter guests with both SUD treatment and pre-treatment stabilization. The program manager may be involved in internal management-related committees within First Step House as well as external committees involving local government efforts for coordinated action and services for homeless persons in Salt Lake county.

- Flexible Schedule depending on the facility! Example schedule: Monday through Thursday, 9-hour days
- Pay Ranges from $82,000 to $90,000 a year based on experience

Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree is required with a preference for social work, psychology, or another related field
- Experience working in the mental health field is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in the substance use treatment field is strongly preferred.
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Responsible for understanding, demonstrating, and utilizing outward mindset in work duties and interactions.
- Timely and accurate completion of all program-related documentation.
- Ethical engagement of diverse persons (neurodiverse, racially diverse, sexual-orientation diverse, gender diverse, mobility-diverse, etc).
- Effective and outward management of direct reports.
- Maintains knowledge of program rules, client rules, client rights, and relevant legal and ethical codes.
- Uses the electronic health record to enter clinical notes, case-management notes, treatment plans, client information updates, billing information and other relevant client information.
- Uses the Utah Homeless Information Management System (UHIMS) database to enter necessary information required for funding under the federal Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).
- Uses any additional documentation platforms to track client engagement and outcomes.
- Is competent in Motivational Interviewing (MI).
- Maintains knowledge of legal entities/ community partners.
- Oversees peer support responsibilities, including partner relations between FSH and partner organizations.
- Maintains population-specific knowledge (e.g. SUD issues, Criminogenic matters, Homeless population and Mental Illness/SPMI).
