Must enjoy working with the elderly and able to accept constructive criticism. Ability to interact with residents who are highly susceptible to common illness without posing additional health risks and must maintain good personal hygiene and wear a uniform. Ability to follow standardized recipes. Knowledge of basic cooking principles required. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Knowledgeable of food service policy and procedures. Willing to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and squat for prolonged periods. Ability to push/pull objects and lift/carry up to 20 pounds unassisted on a frequent basis (occasionally up to 50 pounds, unassisted). Ability to interact effectively with residents, their families, visitors, and other staff members. Willing to work around odors and extreme temperatures in kitchen/storage areas.
