Overview The Columbus VA Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus, Ohio is looking for a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Oncologist to join our team. The position provides comprehensive patient care in consultative outpatient Hematology and Oncologic services. Duty location is Columbus, OH. This position is authorized for Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment). Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree Degree must be from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year the course of study was completed Current, full and unrestricted medical license in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia Residency Training: completed residency in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification Approved residencies include: (1) ACGME; (2) AOA; or (3) other residencies with five years of verified practice in the United States, deemed by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee to provide appropriate training Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residencies may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs) if they are fully licensed physicians PRPs may be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis and are not independent practitioners; their scope of practice requires supervision Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may be appointed as PRPs Proficiency in spoken and written English Reference: For more information on qualification standards, please visit https://www.va.gov/ohrm/QualificationStandards/ Physical Requirements: Work is performed primarily in a patient care setting; adequately lighted, temperature controlled, ventilated; daily office conditions with typical clinic environments; occasional exposure to noise and dust Duties Provide Hematology/Oncology care to Veteran patients in an outpatient clinic setting Prescribe chemotherapeutic and non-chemotherapeutic medications and perform bone marrow aspirations and biopsies as appropriate Document clinical encounters in a timely manner in the Electronic Health Record Maintain accurate data on all procedures Attend section meetings, quality committee meetings, and related administrative functions Prepare monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual department reports Prepare and update department policies and procedures in compliance with Joint Commission guidelines VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including: VHA Physician Total Rewards Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus) and Relocation Incentive: Authorized Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Authorized EDRP Authorized; former participants ineligible to apply Pay: Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, and possible 5 days CME leave) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, long-term care L icensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US state or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage Contract: No physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with some alternate arrangements negotiable
