POSITION SUMMARY
The Pharmacy technician II assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy Technician II work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
Enters prescriptions accurately, generates labels, and sorts orders by delivery method.
Selects the correct medication and dosage for patient containers.
Maintains and organizes inventory by rotating stock, identifying outdated items, and storing supplies correctly.
Ensures accurate restocking of medication dispensing areas.
Maintains thorough documentation, including logs and records, in compliance with standards.
Enters charges and credits accurately for patient medications.
Attends meetings, completes required competencies, and participates in ongoing training.
Always preserves patient and departmental confidentiality.
Provides responsive customer service by answering phones, addressing inquiries at the window, and demonstrating strong communication skills.
Keeps pharmacy areas and equipment clean, neat, and well organized.
Organizes and prioritizes tasks to maintain efficient workflow.
Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: None
Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of Pharmacy Technician experience.
Licensure: Any one of the following prior to start date:
Registered Pharmacy Technician licensure in the State of Florida OR
Pharmacy Intern registration in the State of Florida.
Certification: None
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Ability to work independently.
Patience, positive attitude, cooperation, working well with others, friendly, problem solving skills, analytical skills, attention to detail - thoroughness.
Attention to accuracy, organized, good communications skills (orally and in writing), ability to handle and work well under stress.
Good listening skills, good social skills, perform multiple tasks at one time, and can make quick accurate decisions.
Ability to evaluate medical literature.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Certification:
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or National Health Career Association (NHA).
Immunization certification.
American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR AED course.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physically agile; may require walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching frequently.
May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
May require moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders, or overhead.
May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
Workspace may vary from open to confined.
May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
