Retail Rx | OSU Specialty Pharmacy Ackerman Scope of Position Pharmacy Technician Services is responsible for assisting the licensed pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services to patients, as well as providing necessary services and information to nursing and medical staff. These services include preparation and packaging of medications, distribution of medications, supplies and equipment, maintaining proper inventory levels, ensuring medications are in date and secure, keeping appropriate records and documentation, and submitting patient charges/credits. May have familiarity with hardware configurations, software applications, and file store systems as they relate to pharmacy automation systems. These positions are also responsible for supporting initiatives of area supervisors and managers. Position Summary TheMedication Assistance Program (MAP) Dispensing Pharmacy Techniciansupports patients in accessing necessary medications through patient assistance programs (PMAPs). This role requires a strong understanding of: Pharmaceutical terminology(brand/generic names, dosages, routes of administration)
Insurance processes(eligibility, prior authorizations, formularies, coordination of benefits)
Financial need assessmentandICD-10 coding
Community and national resourcesfor medication assistance
The technician collaborates closely with financial counselors and clinical staff to ensure patients receive affordable access to prescribed therapies. Minimum Qualification High School graduate or equivalent
Certified Pharmacy Technician
2 years of relevant experience, 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred
