Pursuant to specific Board of Pharmacy defined technician tasks, which may include, accurately filling prescriptions, preparing Sterile Compounding medications, entering computer data, following standard procedures, and regulatory requirements.Schedule: 12pm - 8:30am; Monday through Friday with alternating weekendsRESPONSIBILITIESClean and maintain Sterile Compounding room and QA as per USP 797 guidelines for a state law as directed by the supervisorWork under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, fill prescriptions, and prepare Sterile Compounding according to Polaris standards of quality, customer service, productivity guidelines, and State Board of Pharmacy regulationsKnowledge of Long Term CareStage, Prep, and fill orders for residents at long-term care facilities and high-risk pregnant womenCompound Sterile Compounding orders in a Class 100 clean room as directed by Pharmacists, IV Supervisor, and/or Director of PharmacyResponsible for data entry Assist pharmacist with calling long-term care facilitiesMaintain, clean and account for pumpsFile, answer phones, and stock areas in the IV department as appropriate and directed by the supervisorWork with Lead IV Technician to maintain a clean/safe work environment, check equipment for calibration, safety, and cleanlinessReplenish and maintain Emergency Drug Kits (EDK) provided to Long Term Care FacilitiesFollow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAACommunicate with the Pharmacist, Supervisor, or Lead Technician about any concerns regarding USP 797 and OperationsComply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress codeOvertime, holidays, and weekends may be required and/or expectedOther duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needsQualificationsQUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or equivalent requiredPharmacy technician licenses/certifications required by state regulations and state of practiceMinimum of one (1) year working as an IV pharmacy technician required (long-term care pharmacy preferred)Knowledge of brand name/generic medications Experience working with medications, IVs, and filling prescriptions requiredOrder entry and insurance billing experience requiredData entry skills, analytical, ability to multi-taskBasic computer knowledge skills requiredProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook requiredAble to read, write, speak, and understand the English languageAble to work at a moderate speedAble to work during inclement weatherReliableGood organization/Attention to detailProblem solverAble to physically perform light lifting Must be able to work various shifts and days PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that should be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per dayThe employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, crawl intermittentlyMay be necessary to work extended hours as neededMay lift and/or move up to 50 poundsThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this roleHOLIDAY & PTO POLICYPaid holidays are provided annually, with 6 days offered each year, along with 5 sick days.Employees earn up to 10 PTO days each year, with rollover options and milestone bonuses.Employees have the option to cash out up to 10 PTO hours each quarter for added financial flexibility.Please note we are a long-term care pharmacy open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
