Position Overview

Mika is seeking experienced and polished Pastry Cooks to provide world-class service in a refined and sophisticated dining environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a deep knowledge of cooking techniques, and the ability to work seamlessly as part of a team in a high-end restaurant setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and organize the station according to the restaurant's fine dining standards.
  • Prepare all food items with precision and attention to detail, ensuring adherence to sanitation and timing requirements.
  • Prepares all pastry items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications set by the Pastry Chef or the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs.
  • Restocks all items as needed throughout the shift and takes inventory after service.
  • Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all station equipment.
  • Uphold exceptional safety, sanitation, and organizational practices, maintaining a clean and orderly workstation.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and storage areas.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager.
  • Properly cover, date, and store all prepared food items in compliance with safety standards.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards in compliance with restaurant policies and local regulations.
  • Adhere to all restaurant policies and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Pastry Cook in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment.
  • Strong multitasking abilities, with the capacity to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team and contribute to a harmonious service environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain all required licenses, certificates, or permits.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Working Conditions

  • Must have open availability and the ability to regularly report to work on time including on nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant.
  • Ability to work long days when required by business demands.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently lift heavy items, including trays, up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.
