Position Information
Schedule will be Monday - Thursday 6AM - 12PM and Friday 6AM - 11AM. Hours may change based on an emergency event that requires staffing of the Traffic Management Center.
The purpose of this position is to perform work in the maintenance of safe traffic controls and in the monitoring of traffic flow; investigates citizen requests for additional traffic control devices and maintains statistical data base. Gathers, reviews and produces statistical data and information for traffic studies. Employees in this classification may be assigned to the functional area of Traffic Control Center (TCC), in which instance the work involves monitoring real time traffic and providing real time communications regarding traffic conditions. Employees perform essential functions as outline herein according to assigned functional area.
Essential Functions
Investigates and reports on traffic complaints and requests for additional traffic control devices. Monitors real time traffic from the TCC and provides real time communications regarding traffic conditions.
Provides database verifications and uploading and/or downloading database as needed. Assists County crews in trouble shooting intersection problems. Performs data entry in the receipt, review, corrections and tracking of all traffic accidents; copies those reports involving County property damage and forwards accordingly.
Answer calls from crew members in the field and helps them verify problems by comparing field data to actual data in computer database.
Prepares fact sheets for road closings and house moves.
Maintains attendance and punctuality within customary tolerances for this position.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED; supplemented by two years previous experience that provides broad working knowledge of traffic engineering principles.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
