The Full Time Prep and Event Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to recipes and standards, ensuring that all food served meets our high-quality standards.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Prep and Cook to join our team primarily at Union Station Deli and Catering. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, have strong attention to detail, and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to the recipes and standards set by the kitchen management team.
- Line Cooking: Work on the line during service hours, preparing orders quickly and accurately while maintaining the quality of presentation and taste.
- Food Safety & Cleanliness: Adhere to all food safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized workstation. Ensure proper storage of food items and monitor food freshness.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to coordinate food production and service, ensuring timely and efficient service to customers.
- Inventory Management: Assist with receiving deliveries, checking inventory levels, and notifying management of any shortages or issues with food supplies.
- Customer Interaction: Occasionally interact with customers in a positive and friendly manner when serving or preparing food in the open kitchen area.
- Equipment Maintenance: Properly operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment, ensuring that all tools and appliances are in good working condition.
- Compliance: Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to health, safety, and hygiene standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience: Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar role in a quick service or casual dining establishment is preferred.
- Skills: Strong cooking skills with a focus on consistency and efficiency. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge: Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices. Familiarity with a wide range of cooking techniques and ingredients.
- Lead on and off-premise catered events. Sporting events, weddings, banquets, house parties.

Physical Requirements:
Workload will encompass a 32-40 hour work week. This job will require working weekends and some holidays including New Years' Eve. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
