Part Time Staff Accountant We are looking for a detail-oriented Part Time Staff Accountant to join our team in Newton, Massachusetts. This part-time, Contract-to-Permanent position involves managing essential accounting functions, payroll processing, and financial record-keeping in accordance with established principles. The role also includes interacting with tenants and handling HR-related forms, ensuring seamless financial operations. Responsibilities: Process and deposit various types of cash receipts, including contributions, pledges, donations, and other income, while maintaining accurate records in QuickBooks. Reconcile monthly bank statements for all accounts and annually for specific funds, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Prepare checks for expenditures based on proper documentation, obtaining necessary approvals and signatures before payment. Post cash disbursement transactions to QuickBooks, including payments made via online methods. Collaborate with the Treasurer to enter and post journal entries into QuickBooks. Provide payroll information to a third-party vendor, review payroll reports, and reconcile payroll transactions with organizational records. Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring proper filing and organization of supporting documentation. Generate monthly financial reports and occasional analysis reports as requested, such as for building maintenance or specific program budgets. Assist with employment record management, including distributing forms to new employees, maintaining health insurance records, and coordinating year-end tax filings. Ensure employees receive accurate W-2 or 1099 forms and prepare annual employer tax disclosure filings. Requirements: Proficiency in processing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts. Strong experience with cash reconciliations and financial reporting. Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks for accounting and payroll functions. Familiarity with payroll systems and tax reporting requirements. Ability to manage employment records and ensure compliance with HR forms and processes. Excellent organizational skills to maintain a coherent system of accounts and supporting documentation. Effective communication skills to interact with tenants and coordinate financial matters. Detail-oriented approach to reconciling accounts and preparing accurate reports.
