JOB SUMMARY
Reports to Director of Outpatient Pharmacy. Provides assistance to pharmacist to prepare and dispense prescriptions for the Retail Pharmacy. Under the supervision and work direction of staff pharmacists, the Pharmacy technician performs and learns primary tasks. Enters prescription details in patient profile, selects correct medication, places in container, and labels for pharmacist review. Prepares store for physical inventory. Prices and stocks merchandise. May perform other duties as required for patient care and customer service.
8 hour shifts, rotating days, nights and weekends.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
High School diploma or equivalent required
Some college work in life sciences desirable.
Minimum Work Experience Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy highly desirable.
In lieu of prior experience, evaluation period may be extended while on-the-job training occurs.
Previous computer experience desirable.
Familiarity with basic equipment such as typing on keyboard, electronic calculator, etc.
Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred (CPhT/NPS)
Registration with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy required prior to start date.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Maintains proper stock; removes any outdates discovered. Performs the essential functions relating to drug purchasing and inventory control
Checks that all items and tasks are completed by end of shift
Medications filled in a timely manner
Keeps ample inventory, while minimizing waste and over stock
Responsible for maintaining temperature logs and maintaining compliance with regulations.
Drugs prepackaged properly; labeled correctly
Provides consistent performance in regards to medication errors and accuracy
Uses appropriate judgment refers problems to pharmacist if needed
Communicates effectively, does not leave assigned duties incomplete
Organizes time effectively to meet changing workload demands
Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals
Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required. Takes customer to OTC when possible to assist in locating products.
Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Processes (corrects and resubmits) third party claims in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Pharmacist.
