Ops Administrative Assistant II

This position is with the DNA Investigative Support Database in the Tallahassee Regional Operations Center of FDLE. This is a full-time position that works within a crime laboratory environment handling DNA offender sample submitted from law enforcement and criminal justice agencies across the state of Florida. This position requires the ability to work in a collaborative setting, researching, and entering offender data into sample tracking software, and effectively communicating verbally and in writing with agency contributors, supervisors and peers.

Specific duties include: supporting member of the DNA Investigative Support Database; processing qualifying offender DNA specimens for inclusion into CODIS (Combined DNA Index System); complying with all Department, Program Area, Laboratory and Section policies and procedures; maintaining the integrity of the specimens at all times; maintaining section standard for research, data entry and sample preparation of qualifying offender submission into the sections Sample Tracking and Control System in an accurate and timely manner; accurately entering qualifying offender information into the section's Sample Tracking and Control System (STaCS); distributing collection kits to state and county law enforcement or criminal justice agencies and appropriately logs information; providing assistance to law enforcement and criminal justice agencies through phone calls, faxes and emails in a courteous and timely manner; and keeping laboratory clean and organized.

Knowledge of laboratory terminology; knowledge of correct procedures for handling biological specimens; knowledge of basic mathematics; knowledge in the use of computerized keyboards and computer operations; ability to effectively communicate procedures for submission collection with law enforcement and criminal justice agencies; ability to interpret and follow technical instructions; ability to research and analyze information from various databases such as Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Justice Data Center (JDC), Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS), Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS), Judicial Inquiry System (JIS), Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID) and Criminal Justice Network (CJNet); ability to accurately enter data into DNA Database system; and ability to testify in court regarding chain-of-custody.
