Duties/Responsibilities

* Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers. * Perform annual/systematic 90 day and HM-183 inspections (trailers) on equipment as required. * Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards. * Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed. * Order and receive parts and supplies as needed. * Adheres to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous waste. * Clean, organize and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety. * Using welding equipment. * Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned * Perform HM-183 DOT inspections (P,V,I,K,L,HS,UC,) (EPA-M27)

Required Skills/Abilities

* Must possess at least 3 years of experience in repair and service of trailers and medium duty trucks. * Required to have demonstrated knowledge of vehicle and equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. * Minimum of 3 years experience of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations. * Ability to use vehicle diagnostic software. * Minimum of 2 years as a fleet mechanic. * Minimum of 3 years of DOT HM-183 certification, Training or experience. ASE Certification not required but recommended. * High school diploma, completion of G.E.D. required.

* Dynamic, ambitious and engaged team player. * Open to working either a 1st shift (M-F 7am-3:30pm) or a 2nd shift (2pm-10:30pm)
