Material Handler I

The Material Handler I is responsible for performing warehouse functions including processing, checking, verifying, and inventorying packages and shipments received. Stores items or disburses and ships as necessary. Updates related computer records, documents, and files. Proficient in multiple material handling functions that include receiving and shipping orders with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

• Ships products
  • Pulls/audit material issues related to customer sales orders and/or Capital Equipment orders
  • Ships product out in accordance with sales order requests, ensuring shipments are complete and correct
  • Identifies, tracks and resolves inventory and shipping errors, problems or delays
• Receives products
  • Processes materials received; checks, verifies and tags materials
  • Checks receipts for proper quantities and item numbers. Rejects damaged goods and refers problems accordingly
  • Enters receiving information into the computer and forwards necessary information to area personnel
• Inventory and product returns
  • Conduct cycle count inventories of materials and finished goods. Ensures that all goods are appropriately packaged and labeled before storage
  • Restocks shelves as needed
  • Process receiving activities related to RMA's
• Any other duties as directed by supervisor/manager of department
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school or equivalent experience and education
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in general warehouse (shipping and receiving procedures and standards)

Required Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of purchasing and inventory procedures and policies
• Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and standards
• Understanding of related computer applications

Compensation: The anticipated range for this position is $21.00 to $23.00 at an hourly rate. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, experience and location.

Working conditions

• The Material Handler I usually works in a warehouse / manufacturing environment
• The Material Handler I works a standard work week but may be required to work some weekends and evenings to fulfill the duties

Physical requirements

• Must be able to type using the keyboard of a computer
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 60lbs
• Must be able to climb ladders
