Job Description This job will be responsible for oversight and management of all duties associated with staffing including hiring, evaluations, and training of the Sterile Processing team. This job will be responsible for budget planning regarding FTE, instrument, supply and equipment expenses. The Manager will also be responsible for regulatory compliance and quality initiatives to ensure appropriate patient care without disruption while maintaining cost efficiency for the organization.
Education Required - Associate's Degree in Health Sciences OR other related field Preferred - Bachelor's Degree in Health Science OR other related field
Work Experience Required - 3 years of Clinical OR leadership experience Preferred 5 years of Clinical OR leadership experience
Certifications Required - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) upon hire OR Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) through the IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management) within 6 months of hire
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills.
Job Duties Manages hiring, onboarding, orientation, annual performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline for the Sterile Processing Care team. Participates in financial management through budget planning preparations, FTE allotments, and monitoring overtime, equipment & supply expenses. Manages instrument ordering, maintenance, and inventory. Provides guidance over quality initiatives and drives improvement plans concentrating on metrics and quality indicators. Oversees regulatory compliance. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Other related duties as required.

Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
