Retail Operations Manager

The Retail Operations Manager manages day-to-day operations of the retail thrift shop including donation collection, processing and sales floor and ensures all components are operating in an efficient and effective manner. This position hires staff and trains staff and volunteers as well as supervises and assigns work to staff and volunteers. The Retail Operations Manager oversees maintenance of the collection and processing area, sales floor, dressing rooms, rest rooms, offices and parking lot. The Retail Operations Manager also oversees and implements precautionary measures to prevent potential safety hazards and theft.

Responsibilities include scheduling employees and volunteers, planning and preparing work schedules, overseeing monetary transactions, engaging in suggestive selling, managing seasonal merchandise rotation, maintaining checkout areas, accepting donations, inspecting merchandise, opening and closing the store, and preparing daily records of transactions.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, minimum four years of retail sales management experience, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, good computer skills, ability to work with all levels of staff and the general public, critical thinking abilities, creativity, initiative, planning and organizing skills, and the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
