Locum Tenens OB/GYN Job Details — Oakland, CA (Bay Area)

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $8,400 – $9,000

• Shift: Night shifts, 13 hours (7:00 PM – 8:00 AM; final hour for handoffs)

• End Date: March 15, 2027
• Parking: $10/day or free shuttle from local BART station

Required Qualifications — OB/GYN Physician (Locum Tenens)

• Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG board certified strongly preferred; will consider board eligible candidates)
• Active California medical license required
• California DEA registration required
• BLS certification (AHA preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of experience as an OB hospitalist (2 years preferred; new grads considered)
• Experience with operative deliveries, including forceps and operative vaginal delivery, strongly preferred
• Experience collaborating with midwives and multidisciplinary labor & delivery teams preferred
• Spanish-speaking skills preferred (bilingual candidates encouraged to apply)
• Ability to meet standard medical requirements: TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Tdap, COVID-19, Influenza, pre-employment physical, Ishihara color vision test, 8-panel drug screen
• Responsive communication for privileging and onboarding (typical privileging timeline 90–120 days)

Key Responsibilities — OB Hospitalist / Night Shift

• Provide core OB hospitalist care and active labor management overnight (typically managing 5–8 patients per night)
• Perform operative deliveries and manage intrapartum complications as needed (operative vaginal deliveries, forceps, vacuum)
• Conduct 1–2 ED consults per night and manage urgent obstetric presentations
• Care for adult obstetric patient population in a hospital setting
• Document care and orders using Epic EMR — proficiency with Epic preferred
• Collaborate closely with midwives, anesthesia, pediatrics, and multidisciplinary teams for safe patient care
• Manage complications arising from abortions when encountered (locum tenens clinicians will not be asked to perform abortions)
• Participate in structured handoff procedures at the end of each shift to ensure continuity of care
