Line Cooks, Morning Prep Cooks, Bakery Assistant

Yellowbelly and our soon-to-open restaurant Extra Wavy are currently looking to add to our kitchen staff. We are accepting applicants for a couple of positions: LINE COOK, PREP COOK, and BAKERY ASSISTANT positions. We are looking for Line Cooks during dinner service hours. The Prep Cook and Bakery Assistant roles would be morning-early afternoon shifts. All experience levels will be considered. Applicants can be considered for either restaurant or location.
Extra Wavy is a new, locally owned restaurant, opening in September / October 2025. Extra Wavy is a raw bar and american restaurant with nods to east coast oyster bar and fish houses, with many coastal influences and ingredients. Mediterranean influences will be most prominent with the food at Extra Wavy.
Position Information:
Applicants must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, professional setting.
Line Cooks need open availability Tuesday through Saturday for evening services, and also open Saturday brunch.
Prep Cooks or Bakery Assistants would need morning to early afternoon availability.
Starting pay $20 per hour or more depending on experience and skill
Health Insurance is available after 3 months. One week of Paid Time Off is provided after one year.
One Year cooking experience preferred, but all experience levels considered.
The ability to work grow and work up to other positions. Our company is growing as we open our newest concept, Extra Wavy in September/October. There is room to work up into bigger roles and more responsibility.
Cook Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced cook to fill a vacant spot in our kitchen staff and contribute to the overall excellence of our restaurant.
The person we are hoping to employ is first and foremost a skilled, organized, and creative cook. We are looking for someone who is reliable and willing to work as a team player. In addition to cooking prowess, great communication and organizational skills are paramount.
A good candidate for this job is a person with attention to detail who can keep the kitchen tidy and clean all while preparing, cooking, and arranging food together with the rest of our kitchen staff. We pride ourselves in our exceptional service, and we expect nothing less from our cooks.
Our kitchen has multiple stations. We have a Cold or Pantry station, Fry station. Flattop and Grill, and Saute. Our flattop is a Plancha, which cooks at temperatures significantly higher than a normal grill. This allows us to get a hard sear, but also means it requires more skill. We are looking for someone that can be trained on multiple stations, but would consider someone who can be very proficient in any station.
Our menu is a modern, fun, exciting take on seafood. We say we bring the WestCoast to the Midwest. We are not only seafood though. We just like to incorporate as many ingredients from the ocean and the coasts as possible, while still bringing in local proteins, and local seasonal produce. Yellowbelly is not a white tablecloth type of 'fine dining', but we are definitely a high-end restaurant. Along with our modern American food, we have award-winning cocktails, wine and beer.
