Saint John Vianny Theological Seminary is seeking a Line Cook to join our Kitchen team to provide quality food to our seminarians and retired priests—advancing the mission of Saint John Vianny Theological Seminary. This is a 9-month position, aligned with the academic calendar, with scheduled time off during the summer months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meal Preparation & Execution: Prepare daily meals, including for Prophet Elijah House, support kitchen staff for timely production, and collaborate on menu planning to optimize ingredient use and reduce waste; responsible for desserts and bread service.
  • Inventory & Ordering: Support inventory control and ordering, receive and store deliveries using FIFO practices, and help maintain organized storage areas.
  • Sanitation & Cleanliness: Ensure clean, organized workspaces in line with HACCP standards; support overall kitchen and dining cleanliness; and assist with deep cleaning during seminarian breaks.

What We’re Looking For

  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the church and eager to carry out the mission of Saint John Vianney Theological Seminary.
  • Align with the values and mission of the Catholic Church in an Apostolic Age.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ professional culinary experience required; kitchen leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficient in diverse cooking techniques, protein fabrication, knife skills, and meal presentation.
  • Knowledge of federal and local food safety regulations; ServSafe certification required or must be obtained upon hire.
  • Knowledgeable in baking, sauces, soups, and proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; calm under pressure and team oriented.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and willing to support all aspects of kitchen operations, including events and cleaning.
  • Willingness to flex time during holidays to assist in preparing meals for Prophet Elijah House; some after-hours work may be required.
