A line cook is the heart and soul of any restaurant operation, and service bar line cooks are no exception. In addition to being the backbone of the kitchen operation, cooks are expected to have versatility and breadth of knowledge of the entire restaurant. We are seeking energetic and passionate culinary professionals with a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
The Middle West Spirits & Service Bar Line Cook is a meticulous and experienced food service professional with a strong focus on kitchen operations. This role involves maintaining kitchen efficiency, ensuring quality standards, and supporting the BOH team in day-to-day culinary activities.
Responsibilities:
Kitchen Operations:
• Daily kitchen activities delegated by the Executive Chef to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Daily line checks to ensure adequate prep amounts, quality of ingredients & proper
prepping procedures established by the Executive Chef
• Manage workflow, follow prep lists and procedures appropriately to maintain timely and quality food preparation.
• Be a hands on in the kitchen, demonstrating consistent & proper technique, skill,
work ethic, cleanliness, & hygiene.
• Prepping & working any & all stations needed for successful dinner services.
• Responsible for opening & closing procedures set by the General Manager & the
Executive Chef
Quality Assurance:
• Uphold stringent quality control measures, guaranteeing dishes meet established
standards in taste, presentation, and consistency.
• Monitor and maintain fresh ingredient, cleanliness, organization, and hygiene
throughout the kitchen
Inventory and Stock Control:
• Constantly assisting in inventory management, ensuring accurate stock levels and timely
ordering of product
• Monitor stock rotation and minimize waste to optimize cost-effectiveness on a daily
basis.
Training and Team Collaboration:
• Collaborate effectively with the team to achieve culinary goals and maintain a harmonious work environment.
Assistance in Menu Execution:
• Support the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs in executing menu items and specials as per the established standards.
Requirements:
• Proven experience as line cook or equivalent role in a high-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong understanding of kitchen operations, culinary techniques, cleanliness and food safety standards.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced setting.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Commitment to upholding quality standards and continuous improvement.
