The Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle (VSCS) is a 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care and Specialty hospital. We offer a collaborative approach to veterinary medicine. We support Emergency and Critical Care, Neurology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology and Radiology, all in one hospital. Requirements Licensed Veterinary Technician --REQUIRED
Education equivalent to two years of college (pre-veterinary curriculum) or technical school
At least three years’ recent experience in a veterinary practice or medical environment.
Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision.
Pharmacology knowledge, including usages and side effects
Demonstrates the ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Able to work Full-time, flexible schedule, 4–5-day work week, including weekends.
Primary Responsibilities
Fill medications for inpatients and outpatients in all departments. This includes controlled medications. Run the lab machines and notify the correct person when results are available. Maintain a controlled environment to help minimize discrepancies.
Medications Fill and label medications of all forms accurately and as directed by a doctor
Maintain controlled drugs for the ER Cubex system
Stock and maintain adequate inventory for all lab supplies and products
Proven ability to do accurate medical math
Call/email in prescriptions to outside pharmacies
Input medication charges per the DVM’s request
Log out medications to departments, as needed
Send samples to outside labs
Inform the Inventory Coordinator when medications need to be reordered
Laboratory Input laboratory requests into Ezyvet/Smartflow per DVM instructions
Input laboratory results into Ezyvet/Smartflow
Plate and read out in-house urine cultures
Run bloodwork on the Heska and Idexx machines
Run a PCV/TS and input it into Ezyvet
Understands how to use and read dip sticks and snap tests
Perform blood typing and crossmatching
Stain slides and be able to do a manual platelet count
Clean and maintain the microscope
Perform maintenance on the Heska and Idexx machines as needed

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $25/ hour-based on experience. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
