Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Lead Welder/Fitter to oversee and guide our welding and fabrication team during first shift operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with leadership qualities and advanced welding skills to make a significant impact in our production process. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Supervisor in overseeing and leading the welding and fabrication team. Utilize knowledge of layout, product drawings, and metal properties to ensure quality assembly of structural products. Independently select repair methods, equipment, and materials based on operational requirements. Analyze work orders and blueprints to determine material needs and sequence of operations. Inspect ongoing and finished work to maintain quality standards. Promote and enforce company policies, safety, and quality assurance procedures. Plan job schedules effectively to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime. Perform welding using various techniques including FCAW, GMAW, and SMAW. Operate shop cranes and forklifts as needed. Communicate effectively with team members and notify management of any employee issues. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in welding or fabrication. Proficient in advanced welding techniques and blueprint reading. Ability to operate shop cranes and forklifts safely. Strong leadership, communication, and confidential problem-solving skills. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and perform various physical tasks including lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance. Frequent walking, bending, and twisting required for effective work performance. Capable of working in tight or confined spaces, occasionally requiring respiratory protection. This position may require extended shifts of 8 to 10 hours, plus overtime as needed. Personal protective equipment including hard hats, safety shoes, and safety glasses must be worn in designated areas.
