Job Title: E-Commerce Lead
Division: Retail and Contract Operations
Department: E-Commerce/Retail
Reports To: E-Commerce Manager

SUMMARY

The E-Commerce Lead is responsible for supporting the E-Commerce Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations of the e-commerce department, while also performing direct listing, processing, and shipping duties. This hybrid role acts as a working lead, bridging team support with leadership and accountability, helping to meet daily production goals, guide team members, and uphold quality and efficiency standards.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist E-Commerce Manager with daily coordination of workflow, production targets, and training support.

  • Serve as point person in the absence of the E-Commerce Manager.

  • Lead by example: consistently meet and exceed daily listing/posting goals and quality standards.

  • Support onboarding and peer training of new E-Commerce Clerks; provide on-the-floor guidance and corrections as needed.

  • Oversee and assist in processing, sorting, evaluating, and photographing merchandise for online platforms.

  • Ensure accurate and compelling descriptions and pricing of merchandise.

  • Monitor listing accuracy and assist with edits, corrections, and follow-up.

  • Track posted and sold inventory in coordination with the Manager and maintain proper storage of items.

  • Provide guidance on customer service practices and help resolve escalated customer issues professionally.

  • Assist with shipping coordination to ensure timely, cost-effective, and accurate delivery.

  • Support loss prevention and inventory control practices; report concerns immediately.

  • Promote a safe work environment and model safe equipment use and handling practices.

  • Collaborate with management on improving workflows, identifying opportunities, and implementing improvements.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of e-commerce platforms and product listing best practices.

  • Ability to coach, mentor, and support team members in a positive and constructive way.

  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic photography and product research skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 1+ year experience in an e-commerce or retail setting required.

  • Prior team lead or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience with customer service and shipping procedures highly desirable.


TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
  • Proficient in Windows-based systems and e-commerce platforms (eBay, ShopGoodwill, etc.)

  • Comfortable with digital photography, file uploads, and using spreadsheets or tracking systems.


LANGUAGE, MATH, AND REASONING SKILLS
  • Ability to clearly read, write, and communicate instructions and product information.

  • Basic math skills and ability to calculate shipping, pricing, and measurements.

  • Able to adapt to change, prioritize tasks, and problem-solve on the floor.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Regularly required to stand, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform light warehouse and office tasks.

  • May need to assist with loading/unloading items or maneuvering heavy gaylords occasionally.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work is performed in both warehouse and office settings.

  • Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and moderate noise levels.

The employee must frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally maneuver wheeled containers weighing up to 300 pounds.
