POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Bartender at one of Oxford's luxury or boutique-style hotels is responsible for delivering exceptional beverage service while creating a warm and engaging guest experience. In this leadership role, the Lead Bartender not only crafts high-quality drinks and offers thoughtful recommendations, but also plays a key role in maintaining consistency, cleanliness, and compliance behind the bar. This position is also responsible for developing and standardizing cocktail and beverage recipes, training fellow bartenders on preparation and presentation, and ensuring all team members uphold Oxford's elevated service and quality standards. The Lead Bartender plays a key role in striving to meet and exceed Four-Star service standards delivering high-quality service and amenities with strong attention to detail, ensuring excellence in every guest interaction, and consistently exceeding expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional caring and genuine guest service always upholding the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture at all times.
Food and Beverage Service (60% ):
Prepare and serve premium cocktails, wine, and other beverages with precision and consistency
Follow standardized recipes while incorporating creativity for signature drinks
Provide knowledgeable recommendations on cocktails, wine pairings, and spirits based on guest preferences
Maintain consistent beverage presentation, portion control, and garnishing standards that reflect the hotel's upscale environment
Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to ensure product quality
Input orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served
Display knowledge of liquor laws, maintain the attractive presentation and sanitize all areas at least once daily, make suggestions for the reception and drink menus
Perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures. Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations. Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to their supervisor or General Manager.
Guest Relations (30%): Greet all guests warmly and provide attentive, knowledgeable service as they enter the lounge, offering thoughtful drink and food recommendations in alignment with Oxford Collection's elevated service standards
Monitor guest behavior to ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with legal drinking age requirements; check identification for guests appearing under the age of 26
Detect and act on customer inebriation, as trained
Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with both internal and external guests
Training & Development (20%): Develop, document, and maintain standardized drink recipes and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency across all bar staff
Lead training and onboarding for new bartenders, ensuring clarity on service standards, recipes, safety procedures, and guest interaction expectations
Conduct refresher training and tastings as needed to reinforce product knowledge and consistency
Serve as a role model for service excellence and Oxford's values, fostering a positive and professional team culture
Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to the bar team to support quality and growth.
Administration (10%): Generate and print daily and weekly reports
Resolve system discrepancies such as unpaid bills and square balancing.
Complete a daily activity log with pertinent shift information for co-workers and leadership team
Complete guest incident reports and relay guest incidents to Property Management Team
Other (10%): Communicate effectively with all hotel staff to ensure smooth delivery of services
Obtain sales leads for the sales department
Coordinate with front desk, maintenance staff, Food and Beverage Manager and General Manager on things requiring attention
Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts
Other Hotel related duties as assigned

PREFFERED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED preferred
Hospitality / hotel work experience preferred
Previous bartending experience preferred
JOB REQUIREMENTS Food handler's license and liquor server permits as required by state law (or ability to obtain)
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Reliable transportation to and from work
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends and holidays
Reliable and consistent attendance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift or otherwise move objects
Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions
