Instructor/Assistant Professor - Department Of Radiation Sciences
We invite candidates to apply for a 12-month term faculty position in the Department of Radiation Sciences. The incoming faculty member will utilize experience in clinical radiation sciences and educational methodologies to provide classroom and experiential teaching to a varied student body. The incoming faculty member is expected to conduct service in support of the department, college, university, and profession.
Typical Duties
- Teaching: Faculty member will have significant teaching and clinical responsibilities in the Radiography program as well as core radiation sciences courses. In pursuit of teaching excellence, faculty will utilize appropriate teaching strategies in radiography and core curriculum, develop course objectives/content in collaboration with department chair and in accordance with program goals, actively participate in course and curricular evaluation and development. Courses include traditional classroom, laboratory, and clinical education.
- Service: Faculty will advise students and maintain student records, effectively communicate within and outside the department to achieve programmatic goals. Faculty will serve on departmental, college, and university committees. Furthermore, faculty will engage in service to various professional organizations and societies.
- Clinical Work: Faculty will work closely with program faculty to assure student clinical requirements are fulfilled, routinely visit clinical sites and meet with clinical instructors, to achieve accreditation regulations and guidelines, develop and maintain necessary working relationships within and between affiliate Health Systems and Department.
- Scholarship: Faculty will be mentored by Department faculty in research and scholarship projects.
- Other (e.g. administrative duties, etc.): Faculty will coordinate clinical instructor workshops/in-services as needed, participate in radiography program advisory committee meetings, administer the radiography program under the direction of the program director and chair.
Required Qualifications
- ARRT certified in radiography.
- Baccalaureate degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience.
- Commonwealth of Virginia license.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of professionalism, respect, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree (required within 5 years of hire).
- Additional ARRT certifications and experience.
- History of professional service.
