Imaging Tech - Full Time First Shift

Performs general radiology including portable and/or procedures, for patients of ages from pediatric to geriatric. Duties include, but are not limited to: Produce radiologic images of specified body parts/areas as ordered, following established procedures and standards and adapting as appropriate for patient age and condition: Uses good organizational skills in the performance of job duties. Meets patient physical and emotional needs during procedures. Correctly makes modifications of preps, exposure factors, and proper identification of patients and use of markers for all exams from pediatric to geriatric patients. Assures radiation protection for self, patient and ancillary personnel. Administers contrast media as indicated for specific exams following all injection policies and protocols. Performs related duties of patient care with in department as patient volume and employee staffing dictate. Verifies and executes proper imaging test with physician order. Demonstrates safe set-up, operation and troubleshooting of equipment. Instruct patients as to the proper physiological requirements for the procedure. Positions and transfers patients comfortably taking all necessary precautions to maintain patient safety. Verifies pregnancy status in women of child bearing age. Uses available information systems technology to record and distribute information necessary for patient care and operational needs of the organization including, but not limited to the following examples: Accurately enters data into the HIS system to order exams as necessary. Captures patient visit and charge information, including recording exam time, resource usage, procedural codes, equipment and supplies used. Accurately modifying studies, as needed. Recording allergies and untoward reactions to contrast. Record accurate, high quality studies by creating images using approved techniques Annotating the images, as needed. Limiting the number of unnecessary unspecified exams .Protects patient rights, maintains privacy and confidentiality. Complies with established hospital and departmental policies, procedures and objectives: Follows all personnel, safety and infection control policies. Communicates with supervisor and department manager on issues concerning departmental productivity. Completes mandatory hospital and departmental education, maintains required professional certification and continuing education mandates as necessary. Supervises radiologic technology students during clinical rotations. Attends 50% of staff meetings.
