Service Technician II (Intermediate Field Technician) Locations: 2 openings in Houston, TX and 2 in Champaign, IL Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30-4:30 (Typically)

HIRING IMMEDIATELY!!! Our client is seeking experienced Service Technician II professionals to support their expanding U.S. field service team. This role is designed for technicians with 1–3 years of HVAC/R experience who can perform service tasks independently, support larger projects, and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities • Independent Field Work: Perform routine service, maintenance, and refrigerant recovery tasks with minimal supervision while ensuring safe and efficient on-site execution. • Advanced Troubleshooting: Identify and repair intermediate chiller and refrigeration issues including leaks, component failures, and control system faults using standard diagnostic tools. • Special Projects Support: Assist senior technicians on retrofit, decontamination, and large-scale refrigerant projects by completing assigned technical tasks. • On-Site Coordination: Manage job-site logistics, tools, materials, and inventory, and report project status or issues to leadership when required. • Mentoring Junior Techs: Provide guidance, training, and support to Tech I employees to reinforce proper procedures and safety practices. • Customer Interaction: Communicate service findings, work performed, and next steps clearly to customers while maintaining professional service standards. • Technical Documentation: Use company systems to complete digital service reports, manage work orders, log refrigerant activity, and maintain accurate records. • Expense Management: Submit weekly credit card expenses with complete itemized receipts through the Concur system.
Required Qualifications • 1–3 years of HVAC/R field service experience with increasing technical independence. • EPA 608 Universal Certification; OSHA-10 required (OSHA-30 preferred). • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet DOT requirements; forklift certification required or obtained after hire. • Strong technical knowledge of chillers, refrigerant recovery equipment, vacuum systems, and electrical controls. • Ability to interpret manuals, wiring diagrams, and service documentation. • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications • HVAC/R trade school training or equivalent education. • Manufacturer-specific training (Daikin, Carrier, Trane, etc.). • State HVAC licenses or additional industry certifications. • Advanced safety training such as OSHA-30, HAZWOPER, or CPR/First Aid. • Experience with specialty refrigerants or large-tonnage systems; CDL Class B with HAZMAT endorsement is a plus.
Travel Requirements This position requires extensive travel including up to 100% within the assigned region and approximately 20% national travel once fully trained. Initial training may require increased national travel. Regular overnight stays, same-day travel, and a flexible schedule with overtime may be necessary. All travel accommodations are provided, and strict safety protocols are followed.
