Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Oregon and Southwest Washington (“RMHC Oregon”) is seeking a caring, detail-oriented, and hospitality-focused Part-Time Housekeeper to support the daily operations and cleanliness of the Bend Ronald McDonald House.

Position Details

  • Status: Part-Time (with flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed)
  • Compensation: $18.80/hour with a $1.00 differential for bilingual staff
  • Benefits: Holiday Pay, Paid Volunteer Hours

Located at St. Charles Health System, our Bend Ronald McDonald House serves as a “home away from home” for families who have traveled for their child’s urgent medical care. The Housekeeper plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that reflects our compassionate hospitality principles.

Requirements:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include

  • Maintain overall cleanliness and orderliness of all guest rooms, common areas, kitchens, restrooms, laundry rooms, offices, hallways, and entryways.
  • Perform routine and deep cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting high-touch surfaces, window cleaning, emptying trash and recycling, and spot-cleaning walls and furniture.
  • Clean, sanitize, and prepare guest rooms for new families, ensuring rooms are stocked, tidy, and welcoming.
  • Launder, fold, and restock linens and towels; maintain inventory of housekeeping and cleaning supplies.
  • Monitor, reorder, and restock essential items (e.g., toilet paper, paper towels, soap, sanitation supplies).
  • Maintain cleanliness of communal kitchens, including wiping and sanitizing surfaces, appliances, sinks, and dining areas; ensuring proper labeling and storage practices are followed.
  • Support donation and storage room organization, ensuring items are clean, sorted, and safely stored.
  • Follow RMHC Oregon infection control, safety, and sanitation protocols at all times, including proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and PPE.
  • Promptly report maintenance, safety, or facility concerns to the appropriate staff for follow-up.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to uphold a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for all families.
  • Uphold guest privacy, dignity, and confidentiality in every interaction.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support smooth House operations.

Experience/ Educational Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least one year of housekeeping/custodial experience in hospitality, health care, residential, or similar settings preferred.
  • Experience working in customer service or family-centered environments is a plus.

Skills Required

  • High attention to detail and commitment to consistent, high cleaning standards.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal and respectful communication skills; collaborative team player.
  • Comfort working in an environment serving families experiencing trauma or medical stress.
  • Basic computer proficiency for email and internal communication preferred.
  • Spanish speaking preferred but not required.

Work Environment

Most work is performed within a home-like setting. The role requires:

  • Standing and moving for extended periods, standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, and lifting up
  • Lifting and carrying up to approximately 30 pounds.
  • Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work depending on operational needs.
